Volunteer-led

A choir carried by people who give their time.

Wayfarers Australia is organised and run by volunteers. Musical directors, singers, instrumentalists, dancers, stage helpers, ticketing teams, families and friends all contribute their time to make rehearsals, concerts and tours possible.

This keeps the choir accessible and practical. Young people can try singing, movement, staging, front-of-house work, touring support and other real responsibilities, while ticket prices can remain modest and proceeds can regularly be donated to charitable causes.

Service

Music-making with a practical heart.

Being low-budget does not mean being casual about the music. Wayfarers works toward thoughtful, high-quality performances in a supportive environment. The repertoire ranges from approachable part-songs to complex choral works and staged music theatre.

Performances often include dance, movement, costumes, sets, narration and instrumental ensemble work. Members bring practical skills as well as musical ones, and those skills are shared across the choir.

The volunteer model also keeps service close to the music. Wayfarers gives time to schools and community hosts, brings workshops into places where music can make a difference, and regularly directs ticket proceeds toward charitable causes.
